So often, we think there is little we can do to help in situations that are about grief and sorrow. We feel helpless, as if no words, thoughts, or deeds can serve to make the bereft feel better. Yet, small kindnesses are often all it takes to provide a lift for another human who is suffering. Bring them a cup of their favorite coffee; send them a quote snippet that seems appropriate to their situation and offers hope; drop a card in the mail for them. There are myriad ways to connect and most often, the smallest gesture goes a long way in soothing an aching heart. An act that seems insignificant to you will be treasured by another.
