Given the very real and long-standing issue of racism in our country, many of us at Center of Unity are willing to address this important conversation! Most of us would like to make things better with the topic of implicit bias and race, yet continue to feel unsure of how to proceed. This is all the more reason to persevere in an open-minded and wholehearted way. We’ll be partnering with Unity on Greenville in Dallas and Rev. Karen Romestan to focus energy, intention, and action. We will join together as two spiritual communities, and address this current, clear and present matter of great importance. Honestly, both Rev. Karen and Rev. Geo are uncertain of how exactly to do that, yet they cannot do it alone. The first step in our communities is for us to connect more openly and more deeply with those willing. Please, let us hear from you! We’d like to learn about personal experiences on this important topic. Systemic racism is a spiritual conversation.
With this on our minds and in our hearts, Rev. Geo and Rev. Karen are hosting a series of 5 bi-weekly gatherings on Zoom. To maximize the comfort level of everyone involved, we’ll initially meet separately. We intend a wholehearted, open-ended, and engaging conversation with all! Although, it may seem counterintuitive to meet separately, we’ll gather in this way to ensure open dialogue and to create a place for healing.
Please, be mindful that separated groups hold the intention to accomplish an open and honest discussion. After the 5 initial group meetings, we’ll come together to further explore what we’ve discovered, and determine ways that we can experience healing, understanding, and awareness of what is next for us to do as Truth students.
Thank you for your prayerful consideration, and intention to join in these meaningful conversations, to bring change for good. Please, make us aware of your willingness and intention to participate by contacting the church at 817-488-1008 or email. If you know of someone passionate about the cause of racial justice or would benefit from participating in these conversations, please pass this information along to them, as well, and get us connected!
